The Reason Behind Our Mission
After spending his first sixteen years battling the effects of Cerebral Palsy and its three surgeries, Andy was diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma in February 1996. After the pain of cancer, more surgery, and Chemo Therapy, Andy still had more to give than he wished to take. He and some of his friends spent their days cheering each other and entertaining the younger children. Apparently as life is known to be shorter it becomes more precious, and a younger person knows better how to live it. Andy is now cancer free and spends much of his time still cheering up other terminally ill children. His love and concern have been contagious and out of them has grown Andy's Special Friends Foundation. The foundation, each year, provides many children and their families with a much needed weekend "get away" between cancer treatments. During each of these weekends, smiles emerge from the pain of cancer (and chemo), missing hair is forgotten, and laughter replaces tears. Thank you for your part, in helping Andy help his friends!
